Empower your students to take real environmental action
The Protect the Planet workshop goes beyond recycling posters and polar bear facts. Students engage with genuine environmental challenges, investigate their own school's impact, and create actionable plans that lead to real change. This is sustainability as active citizenship — not passive awareness.
Every session is adapted to your year group. Reception and Year 1 explore nature, animals, and simple eco-choices through stories and outdoor play. Year 2 and 3 investigate waste, recycling, and water conservation through experiments and audits. Year 4 and 5 tackle carbon footprints, energy use, and sustainable design. Year 6 create and present a school eco-action plan, taking leadership of real environmental change.
Supports Science, Geography, and PSHE curriculum objectives — and directly feeds into the 2028 Citizenship requirements around civic engagement and community responsibility.

Citizenship becomes compulsory in primary schools from September 2028, with civic engagement and community responsibility as core elements. Environmental action is one of the most tangible ways students can experience active citizenship — making this workshop both curriculum-ready and genuinely impactful.

Planet Health Check
An interactive opening that helps students understand the current state of the planet — using visual data, stories, and simple demonstrations to make abstract climate issues tangible and age-appropriate.

Carbon Detective
Teams investigate their own carbon footprint — from school dinners and transport to heating and electricity. They discover where the biggest impacts are and what can be changed.

Waste Warriors
Hands-on waste audit of the classroom or school — students sort, measure, and analyse what's being thrown away, then brainstorm practical solutions to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Sustainable Solutions
Design-thinking challenge where teams create solutions to real environmental problems — sustainable packaging, energy saving devices, or water conservation systems. Prototypes built from recycled materials.

Eco Entrepreneur
Students combine enterprise and sustainability — designing a product or service that's both profitable and planet-friendly. They learn that business and environmental responsibility can work together.

Community Action Plan
Year 5 and 6 students create a realistic eco-action plan for their school or community — identifying changes, assigning responsibilities, and presenting their plan to school leadership.
