About This Workshop
Give your students the skills to thrive in a digital world
The Navigate Digital World workshop goes beyond 'stay safe online' posters. Students experience real scenarios — evaluating whether a news story is real or fake, understanding what their digital footprint actually looks like, and practising what to do when something online makes them uncomfortable.
Every session is adapted to your year group. Reception and Year 1 explore safe and unsafe online behaviours through stories and sorting games. Year 2 and 3 learn about passwords, personal information, and kind online communication. Year 4 and 5 tackle fake news, digital footprints, and social media pressures. Year 6 become digital leaders — investigating misinformation techniques, understanding algorithms, and creating digital citizenship guides for younger students.
Directly supports Computing and PSHE curriculum objectives — and prepares your school for the 2028 statutory media literacy requirements.
2028 Curriculum Change
Media literacy — including spotting fake news and misinformation — becomes a statutory part of the primary curriculum from September 2028. Schools adopting the Navigate Digital World workshop now are building staff confidence and student competence well ahead of the deadline.

Every activity is designed to build a different aspect of this skill. Your facilitator selects and adapts activities based on the year group.

Digital Footprint Detective
Students discover what a digital footprint is and investigate their own — learning what information they leave behind online and why it matters. Younger students use picture trails; older students analyse real examples.

Fake News Spotter
Teams analyse real and fake news stories, learning to check sources, spot manipulation techniques, and ask critical questions before sharing. A 2028 curriculum essential.

Password Protector
Interactive challenge where students create strong passwords, understand why they matter, and learn the basics of protecting personal information online.

Screen Time Balance
Students explore their relationship with screens — tracking typical usage, discussing how it makes them feel, and creating a balanced digital wellbeing plan.

Cyberbullying Response
Through real-life scenarios and role-play, students learn to recognise cyberbullying, know what to do if they see it, and understand the impact of their online words.

Safe Sharing Challenge
Year 5 and 6 students tackle complex scenarios — what's safe to share, what's not, understanding consent for photos, and navigating social media pressures.

The fake news activity was a revelation — even the teachers were caught out by some of the examples. The children left with genuine skills they're using every day. One parent told me their child now fact-checks everything they see on YouTube.
