The WOW-day anchor for Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Every primary school has neurodivergent pupils — around 15-20% by most estimates. Neurodiversity Celebration Week is the annual moment when schools stop treating this as a "SEN issue" and start treating it as a strengths story every child benefits from.

Our Learn Effectively + Look After Their Mind combined session is our Neurodiversity Celebration Week workshop. It's a differentiated hands-on day: EYFS and KS1 explore "everyone learns differently" through story and games; Years 3-4 practice identifying their own learning strengths; Years 5-6 tackle stereotypes, allyship, and how to speak up when they see difference being mocked. Strengths-based, non-medicalised, Ofsted-mapped.

What's included in the workshop

1

Whole-school assembly

A 20-minute WOW opener on the idea the week is built around: brains work differently, and that is a feature rather than a fault. Sets the tone for pupils to arrive at their session ready to engage.

2

4 or 7 differentiated sessions

Half day: 4 sessions covering up to 128 pupils. Full day: 7 sessions covering up to 224 pupils. Each session pitched to the year group in front of us — Reception looks different to Year 6.

3

How I learn best

Drawn from our metacognition workshop. KS2 pupils test different ways of remembering and problem-solving, and discover that the method which works brilliantly for the person next to them may do nothing for them — and the reverse.

4

Belonging and allyship (Y5-6)

Upper KS2 looks at exclusion, stereotypes and what it costs to be the child who is always "the difficult one" — and what an ally actually does. Practical, not preachy.

5

Teacher pack for the full week

Assembly script for the following day, tutor-time discussion prompts (Tue/Wed/Thu), classroom activity ideas for the rest of the week, a home-learning task, and one A4 PSHE evidence sheet for your subject leader file.

6

KCSIE 2024-referenced safeguarding pack

Sent with your booking confirmation. All facilitators Enhanced DBS-checked. Named DSL on the day. Photo consent handled to your school's policy.

How schools typically use us during Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Option 1 — Monday anchor. Book for Monday 15 March, the first day of the week. The WOW workshop sets the week up; teachers run the follow-up activities from your teacher pack Tuesday to Friday. The most straightforward to evidence.

Option 2 — Mid-week lift. Book Wednesday 17 March. Schools that start the week with their own assembly and classroom work often want the hands-on day in the middle, once children have the vocabulary to make more of it.

Option 3 — Bookend the week. Book Friday 19 March to consolidate. Pupils reflect on what they have learned, and the messages carry into the weekend and into conversations at home.

Option 4 — The fortnight before. Neurodiversity Celebration Week follows straight on from British Science Week (5–14 March), so mid-March books up fast across the whole sector. Booking the first two weeks of March to prime the week is often the only way to get a date — and it works well, because teachers then have the pack ready to build towards the week itself.

Common questions

When is Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2027?

Monday 15 to Sunday 21 March 2027, coordinated by Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Most primary schools run their activities across the school week, Monday 15 to Friday 19 March. Our workshop is theme-agnostic, so it works whatever focus the organisers announce.

Do you cover EYFS as well as KS2?

Yes. The day is differentiated across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Reception and Year 1 explore the idea that everyone is good at different things, through story and games; Years 2–4 look at how differently people learn and what helps them personally; Years 5–6 tackle stereotypes, belonging and what being an ally actually involves.

Is this a specialist neurodiversity workshop?

We want to be straight with you about this. The day combines two of our existing Future Skills workshops — Learn Effectively, which is about metacognition and how different people learn, and Look After Their Mind, which covers wellbeing, kindness and belonging. Together they do the job most primary schools want from the week: helping every child understand that brains work differently and that difference is normal. What it is not is a clinical or condition-specific programme. We do not deliver autism, ADHD or dyslexia training, and we would point you towards a specialist SEND provider if that is what you need.

How much does the workshop cost?

£499 half day (up to 128 pupils, 4 sessions) or £599 full day (up to 224 pupils, 7 sessions) + VAT. Future Skills mission-led pricing. All resources, teacher pack and follow-up materials included.

How far in advance should we book?

For Neurodiversity Celebration Week itself (15–21 March 2027) we recommend booking by mid-February, as those five days fill first. Bear in mind mid-March is the busiest fortnight of our year — British Science Week runs 5–14 March immediately before it — so earlier is genuinely better. If the week is full we run the same day across the surrounding weeks, and schools often programme it for late February or early March to build towards the week.

Can we combine this with our PSHE year plan?

Yes. Our Whole-School Programme maps out one workshop per half term across the year, with Look After Their Mind as the Autumn 2 anchor and Learn Effectively in the spring, which is what makes mid-March work for Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Pair with our Skills Passport for weekly follow-through.
