About This Workshop
Give every child the confidence to stand up and speak
The Speak With Confidence workshop is about more than public speaking — it's about giving every student, including the quiet ones, the tools and confidence to express their ideas clearly. Through storytelling, debate, and presentation challenges, children discover that speaking well is a skill anyone can learn.
Every session is adapted to your year group. Reception and Year 1 build confidence through show-and-tell games, story circles, and partner conversations. Year 2 and 3 practise structured talk, persuasive language, and listening skills. Year 4 and 5 take on formal debates, presentations, and audience awareness. Year 6 master advanced techniques — rhetorical devices, counterarguments, and leadership through communication.
Directly supports the strengthened oracy requirements coming in the 2028 curriculum — from EYFS speaking and listening through to KS2 formal presentation skills.
2028 Curriculum Change
Oracy — speaking and listening skills — is being significantly strengthened across the primary curriculum from September 2028. Schools building oracy practice now will have confident, articulate students ready for the new expectations from day one.

Every activity is designed to build a different aspect of this skill. Your facilitator selects and adapts activities based on the year group.

Voice Warm-Up
Fun vocal exercises that build projection, clarity, and confidence — from tongue twisters and rhythm games for younger students to breathing techniques and vocal variety for older ones.

Storytelling Circle
Students tell stories to the group, building narrative skills, expression, and the ability to hold an audience. Starts with familiar tales for EYFS; original stories and improvisation for older students.

Debate Club
Structured mini-debates where teams argue for and against a motion — learning to construct arguments, use evidence, listen to opposing views, and respond respectfully.

Presentation Challenge
Students prepare and deliver a 60-second presentation on a given topic — practising structure, eye contact, body language, and managing nerves.

Listening Station
Activities that prove listening is as important as speaking — from active listening challenges to note-taking exercises and summarising what a partner said.

Persuasion Power
Year 5 and 6 students learn rhetorical techniques — repetition, emotional appeal, the rule of three — and use them to craft and deliver persuasive speeches on topics they care about.
