Journey to the Viking age of exploration and innovation

The Vikings workshop uses immersive VR to transport Year 5 students to the Viking age. Children sail Viking longships, explore Norse settlements, and discover the engineering and navigation skills that made Vikings legendary explorers and traders.

Students participate in carving rune stones, design and decorate shields, participate in trade market activities, and learn about Norse mythology through storytelling. Through VR and hands-on activities, they appreciate Viking craftsmanship, strategic thinking, and cultural contributions.

Book a full-day visit and choose a different VR topic for every year group — making it super specific to each class's curriculum and exceptional value for money.

What students take away

Every session is designed around measurable outcomes that align with the National Curriculum and build historical thinking skills.

Engineering prowess

Students understand Viking shipbuilding innovation and navigation skills that enabled exploration.

Craftsmanship and trade

Students appreciate Viking artistry and their vast trade networks across continents.

Cultural and societal structure

Students understand Viking society, values, beliefs, and how they were organised.

Exploration and navigation

Students grasp the scale and ambition of Viking exploration and their navigational abilities.

The longship voyage in VR was incredibly immersive. Year 5 students felt the scale of Viking ambition — navigating without modern technology, traveling to unknown lands. It changed how they viewed Vikings from just 'invaders' to skilled explorers and traders.
